Lesson 2.1 – Beginning the Drawing

Please purchase the course before starting the lesson.

If we are to draw anything complex like a human face, it is wise to begin with the simplest, largest pieces of it possible – get the big things right, and it becomes much easier to understand the smaller details and where they fit within “the whole”. The Block-in is the first stage of our drawing process where we try to get the broad proportions and structures of the head defined correctly. It’s best not to move on with the drawing until the block-in is sufficiently developed.
